Bridle Strap Replacement
Having your piano tuned regularly by a piano technician is one of the best ways to keep it sounding great, but there are other parts that need to be maintained over time as well. Have you ever looked at your pianos bridle straps?
The bridle straps are just one of the many important components that allow your piano to make beautiful music. They are located in front of the action of the piano. One function of the bridle straps is that they help to hold the working mechanism of the piano together so that it may be removed and replaced in the piano without damage. If bridle straps are missing or broken, servicing the action is a real problem, in that removal and re installation of the action may easily result in broken parts when the action is put back into place.
Another important function of the bridle straps is they use the weight of the lower action to bring the hammer back up to rest. Over a period of time, bridle straps can break, causing the keys to stick when played since the hammer does not go back to its resting position. This is a common problem to look for when your piano keys start to stick.
If think your pianos bridle straps have begun to break, the best thing to do is replace the entire set at once by a certified piano technician. For this job, the action (working mechanism) of the piano would need to be removed and transported to our shop at Brigham Larson Pianos in Pleasant Grove, Utah.
