Piano Keyset Restoration

How are your those piano keys looking lately?

If your ivory keys are chipped-up, yellowed, or looking old from wear and tear, we can help!  Did you know that here at Brigham Larson Pianos, we do Keyset Restoration?  We can get your ivory keys looking great again or you can choose to have your chipped-up or yellowed ivory replaced with high-quality plastic tops. We have fabulous piano technicians that can assist you in deciding the best option for your grand or upright  piano.  There are advantages to to choosing to restore the ivory keys you have or opting to replace them with plastic tops.

Original ivory keys when restored not only look beautiful, but have a luxurious, silky feel to them as well which plastic tops simply cannot duplicate.  They give a piano a solid authentic feel and will last indefinitely with proper care.  This kind of restoration would need to be done in our shop.  Below is a picture of ivory keys that have been restored.

Another option is replacing your chipped-up or yellowed ivory keys with high-quality plastic tops.  They are very attractive and durable and they often cost less than restoring ivory keys.  In a household where young children live and play, plastic tops would be a more sensible choice.   Ivory, especially old ivory, is more easily chipped than plastic and can be prone to splitting.  Also, sometimes old ivory is in such bad condition that the restoration of the original ivory would be impossible.

If you would like to have the keytops on your piano looking "factory fresh" again, or if would like to schedule a piano tuning, please give us a call at 801-701-0113 or visit our website at brighamlarsonpianos.com.  We would love to assist you in getting your piano back in the best condition whether you choose to repair the piano you have or upgrade to a new piano.
